Work Experience
11/05 – Present Senior Network Engineer for Department of Information Services
Provide technical leadership, training, direction, and mentoring for the Network Control Center. Responsible for the daily operations of state wide MPLS network consisting of over 1500 routers. Lead of Level 3 troubleshooting, supervises lower level network engineers to solve highly complex network issues. Supervises and implements highly complex network changes in the context of incident resolution, and service requests. Senior staff advisor to internal and external agency senior management. Project leader for high-level cross-agency coordination of high visibility/high impact statewide networking projects. Develops and issues standards for processes including problem reporting, configuration standardization, and feasibility testing. Writes requests for proposals and evaluates responses for major systems.

6/01 - 11/05 Wide Area Network Specialist for Employment Security Department
Create detailed proposals for hardware and software procurement. Consult with management to adopt new technologies then implement the designs. Supported over 3000 users in a network with 60 critical routers, and 300 switches, two VPN concentrators, and two firewalls. Administered three IBM AIX Servers supporting 150 mainframe connections and 650 printer connections throughout the state.

6/99 - 6/01 Computer Science Work-Study & Forklift Safety Consultant
Assisted administrator of an NT domain, implemented NT security for six groups, installed workstations and customized desktop software for over 50 network users. Wrote advanced queries and designed forms using MS Access. Designed and published a forklift safety web site focusing on the technical aspects of forklift safety as they relate to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178. Conducted twice-weekly training sessions to Clarklift customers lasting seven to eight hours to train and certify forklift operators in accordance with OSHA regulations.

7/86 - 2/98 US Army
Led numerous teams of 5 to 20 people. Responsible for millions of dollars of sensitive equipment. Supervised supply clerks who input work requests, back-up systems, ordered and shipped parts, received and transported parts. Special duties included conducting weekly training sessions, career and leadership counseling, safety awareness and accountability for government property.
